Mishref, Kuwait: Allworld Exhibitions and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) are co-launching a new exhibition and conference in Kuwait serving the oil and gas industry. The Kuwait Oil & Gas Show and Conference (KOGS 2013) will be held at the Kuwait International Fair in Mishref from 8 - 10 October 2013.
Allworld Exhibitions member and exhibition organiser, Arabian Exhibition Management, said the launch is in response to industry demand. "Kuwait is one of the most compelling industry environments in the region. By 2020, it aims to reach a production capacity of 4 million bpd and it is estimated that Kuwait has allocated US$ 75 billion for the development of oil related projects. An international exchange of technology and experience is critical to realising these plans. KOGS 2013 will provide the single biggest gathering of the oil industry ever seen in Kuwait. It will educate and stimulate the petroleum sector whilst facilitating business opportunities for participants," Arabian Exhibition Management Chairman Shaikh Mohamed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa said.
"Kuwait is an ideal venue due to its strategic location. KOGS 2013 will also provide access to important neighbouring markets in Saudi Arabia and Iraq, which are serviced by numerous international companies based in Kuwait," he continued.
The exhibition profile covers all areas of the oil and gas industry including petroleum geosciences, exploration and production in addition to refining and petrochemical products and services. The organisers have signed a contract for 10,000 square metres at the venue.
A high level technical conference organised by the SPE, workshops, education activities and field trips will run parallel to the exhibition. Egbert Imomoh, 2013 SPE President, commented, "The Society of Petroleum Engineers are delighted to bring our technical conference expertise to KOGS 2013. We have a strong relationship with KPC and a long standing presence in Kuwait and we are confident this event
will be of great benefit to the oil and gas industry."
KOGS 2013 is being organised with the full support of the Kuwait Ministry of Oil and Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC). Commenting on the launch, KOGS 2013 patron and Kuwaiti Oil Minister His Excellency Hani Abdulaziz Hussain Minister of Oil said, "This major international exhibition and associated conference is fully supported by the Kuwait Ministry of Oil, KPC and its subsidiary companies. With Kuwait's considerable oil production and ambitious upstream expansion plans, as well as downstream activities, KOGS 2013 will be an ideal platform for conducting business, the exchange of ideas and technology and sharing of best practices."
KPC Chief Executive Officer Farouk Hussain Al-Zanki echoed Kuwait's commitment and readiness to host a world-class event. "It is high time that Kuwait hosts an event of this stature which befits our international standing as one of the world's leading oil producing nations, and which mirrors the great strides we have made both upstream, downstream and in our overseas activities," he said.
