Dubai, UAE - NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR), the global leader in self service technologies, today announced the appointment of Mr. Sherif El Shafie to the role of Managing Director for NCR Operations in the Gulf area.
Mr. El Shafie, who will be based in Dubai, is taking over from Ahmad Qawasmeh, who after 20 years of devoted service and success with NCR has decided to step down and pursue a new career.
Mr. El Shafie, another NCR home grown successful businessman, has been with the company for over 18 years serving in different roles and locations, the most recent of which was as the Regional General Manager for NCR Kuwait and Bahrain. Mr. El Shafie will now be in charge of one of the most important areas for NCR in the Middle East and Africa. Sherif holds a Computer Engineering degree from Ain Shams University of Cairo.
Commenting on Mr. El Shafie's appointment, Mr. Stelios Fragkos, Vice President for NCR Middle East/Africa region, said: "I am very pleased to have Sherif heading NCR's operations in the Gulf and I am confident that his professionalism and wealth of knowledge will keep up the momentum we have built in the region over the years, as well as give us the opportunity to expand further in the Gulf market".
NCR has been operating in the Gulf, as a multinational company since early 1960 and has contributed significantly to the IT development in the area, with offices in Dubai, Abu-Dhabi, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait and Qatar.
