World-renowned consultants invited to talk about strategic value and sustainability of management styles during Dubai Policy Watch forum

Mohammed Bin Rashid Centre for Leadership Development (MBRCLD) has recently announced that it held a new session of the Dubai Policy Watch Forum for participants of the Government Leaders level, facilitating open discussions and debates on the Dubai Management Style and related issues concerning its sustainability and relevance in different areas of responsibility. MBRCLD invited Professor William Scott-Jackson, Chairman of Oxford Strategic Consulting and Director of the Centre for Applied HR Research at Oxford Brookes University Business School, and world-renowned facilitator and leadership development consultant Andrew Porteous as keynote speakers of the forum.

The guest speakers conducted presentations and facilitated discussions and a healthy debate about critical issues related to Dubai Management Style; Professor Scott-Jackson focused on cultivating the strategic value of the management style as a source of competitive advantage, while Mr. Porteous led a discussion about nurturing and developing the Dubai Management Style within different organisations. MBRCLD also prepared a Q&A session wherein participants were encouraged to conduct a deeper exploration of the Dubai Management Style and discuss its applications.

Adel Al Shared, Executive Chairman of MBRCLD said: "Professor Scott-Jackson and Mr. Porteous both have extensive experience in the area of leadership; the expertise and knowledge they passed on definitely will have a strong impact on developing the leadership qualities of the Government Leaders level participants. Furthermore, the session aimed to empower the participants with critical information and knowledge that enable them to confidently formulate their own opinions and participate in a healthy exchange of ideas and debates. The Dubai Policy Watch forum is certainly a very productive way to deepen the participants' understanding of important policies in Dubai, and also to develop a habit of critical thinking among our future leaders."

Esam Khamis Al Flassi, Deputy Director of UAFC and System Management Manager said: "Developing an effective and flexible management style is crucial for any leader to succeed in a highly dynamic society such as Dubai. The theoretical inputs and practical activities that were facilitated by the highly distinguished speakers will certainly help in our own pursuit to fully understand the Dubai Management Style and implement this model within our respective organisations."

Professor Scott-Jackson has devoted much of his time carrying out research and consulting in the Gulf and is a regular speaker on talent management at key management events including the SABIC Riyadh Global HR Conference and the IIR Middle East HR Summit. He has authored several publications, including the Chartered Management Institute's Guide to managing human capital and the CIPD guide to HR Outsourcing.
