Miyahuna, a government-owned company supplying water utilities, signed an agreement with International Cards Company (ICC) a leading financial services company. The agreement enables citizens to pay their water monthly bills using MasterCard cards at all Miyahuna offices all over Amman.
The agreement was signed by the Secretary General of Water Authority of Jordan, Chairman of the Board/CEO Eng. Munir Oweiss and Mr. Khalil Alami CEO of ICC.
ICC is to provide all Miyahuna offices with electronic point-of-sale terminals that enable MasterCard card holders to make their monthly payments using their cards. A step forward to reach ICC's goal of offering easy payment solutions to MasterCard credit card holders for all products and services offered in the country.
Eng. Munir Oweiss, stated that "the purpose of this agreement is to offer an alternative method of payment for Miyahuna services; in an effort to make the services more convenient for the end users." He expressed his optimism in regards to this new collaboration and the benefits it brings along. "Our vision is to be recognized by our commitment to the customer and our effectiveness in water and wastewater management. The way we see it, this agreement contributes directly to the first part of our vision."
On his part Mr. Alami emphasized the importance of such agreements in shaping consumer experiences, "we need to offer easier, more convenient methods of payment for consumers; and Miyahuna being an organization that serves all of the residents of Amman offering the most essential of services is considered an important milestone in this regard." He went on to say that "Our goal is to make Jordan a leader in payment solutions; and a pre-requisite for achieving such a goal is to accept credit cards as a means of payment for all products & services in the country. We are doing our part by expanding our network of merchants to include all sectors and industries."
ICC (a principle member of MasterCard®) is a leading financial services company that was established in 1999 as a limited liability financial services company, in 2006, ICC transferred its company status to a public shareholding company listed on the Amman Stock Exchange. It offers a wide array of services including credit card issuing, acquiring and processing, as well as money transfer services.
Miyahuna has been established in 2007, as Amman's only water utility company. Prior to 2007 it was called LEMA. Currently Miyahuna serves 492,000 customers across the capital. The company has been working hard to address the water management challenges that are facing the country.
