Mobile clinic scheduled to move to Mirdif City Center

UAE - The Ministry of Health and Prevention recently opened a mobile clinic at Al Muhaisnah Health Center to help people stop smoking in line with the National Tobacco Control Program implemented under the theme ‘I quit and now it is your turn.’ From Al Muhaisnah Health Center, the mobile clinic will move to Mirdif City Center where it will stay until June 22, 2017.

H.E. Dr. Hussein Abdel-Rahman Al Rand, the Ministry’s Assistant Undersecretary for Health Centers and Clinics Sector, led the opening of the mobile clinic in a ceremony held at Al the Muhaisnah Health Center and attended by Nasser Khalifa Al Budour, Director of Dubai Medical District, and Dr. Wedad Al Maidoor, Director of Dubai Health Authority's Primary Health Care.

According to H.E. Dr. Al Rand, the Ministry’s latest move forms part of the Al-Khair Clinics’ efforts and in response to the World No Tobacco Day celebration. The opening also reflects the Ministry’s bid to provide state-of-the-art and world-class health facilities, in addition to encouraging the public to adopt a healthy lifestyle to prevent diseases, especially those associated with smoking. The mobile clinic will reach wider segments of society to raise awareness on the dangers of smoking, a major cause of lung cancer that kills millions of people worldwide.

Ahmed bin Sulayem Al-Kutbi, one of the region’s most influential social media personalities, was present during the ceremony. Al-Kutbi enjoys a large number of followers, including the youths. He supports the Ministry’s effort to raise awareness on the dangers of tobacco use, while encouraging his followers to quit smoking as part of their community service to the UAE and the rest of the region.
