METITO, the international water and wastewater treatment experts, has completed the construction of a multi-million dirham sewage treatment works for a housing complex at Al Faqa near Al Ain.
The project, completed on behalf of the Public Works Department and handed over to the Sewerage Projects Committee at Al Ain Municipality, delivers a state of the art treatment works that can presently handle a population of up to 4,000 people.
It has been designed and built with the ability to double capacity in the future when new houses are built at Al Faqa and demand for sewage treatment increases.
METITO (Overseas) Ltd Managing Director Fady Juez said: "METITO is proud to have completed another state of the art project in Abu Dhabi Emirate that will efficiently handle all the sewage treatment requirements of the new housing complex at Al Faqa.
"As with all our projects great care was taken to ensure that the project was environmentally friendly. All effluent from this works will be used for irrigation purposes to help with the conservation of scarce water resources."
The scope of work for METITO on this project was the design, manufacture, supply, installation and commissioning of the works and ongoing supervision of maintenance of the plant.
The plant has now been officially handed over to the Public Works Department Sewerage Projects Committee at Al Ain Municipality but METITO staff will continue to maintain and operate the plant on their behalf. Main contractor on the project was BRICC/Bin Hamm and the consultant was W S Atkins.
Mr. Juez added: "The plant has been designed with a capacity of treating 700m per day with the ability to double that capacity to 1400m in the future when the Al Faqa housing complex grows."
This is one of a series of major sewage and water treatment works METITO (Overseas) LTD is installing in Abu Dhabi emirate to deliver improved quality services to residents of the emirate and to create environmentally friendly systems that can recycle water to be used for irrigation purposes.
