Cairo10 January, 2010 - McDonald's Egypt launched the McMuffin Mania campaign in six of Egypt's leading Egyptian and foreign universities. In addition, the campaign was launched over the Internet on the social networking website Facebook and on the radio to communicate with its customers everywhere about McDonald's Egypt's breakfast menu.

As part of the McMuffin Mania campaign, McDonald's Egypt placed booths around university campuses featuring the latest games and a place for students to enjoy drawing graffiti.  In addition, students enjoyed McMuffin breakfast sandwiches for free from McDonald's from December 5th to the 25th.

The campaign was first launched at the American University in Cairo for two days.  Afterwards it moved to five other universities including the German University in Cairo, Future University, MSA and the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport in Alexandria and Cairo.

Alaa Fathi, McDonald's Egypt Deputy General Manager said, "McDonald's Egypt believes that connecting with its customers is not only limited to providing the best meals through its restaurants spread out across the country, but by being present where customers prefer to be.  As a result McDonald's Egypt was keen to reach university students, providing them with what is considered to be the most important meal of the day. We were also keen to connect with all customers through a variety of communication channels such as the radio and the Internet."

The campaign was launched on the Internet through a Facebook fan page, which started out with 500 fans at the beginning of the campaign and has reached to more than 11,000 members. The online campaign consisted of two phases, the first of which provided a thousand free meals daily to new page members, who received their voucher over the internet and redeemed it at the nearest McDonald's restaurant. The second phase featured games with high-tech weekly prizes for winners.

Through its sponsorship of the radio program McDonald's Hot 7 @ 7 on Nile FM, which airs from 7 to 8 pm every night, McDonald's Egypt launched Trust or Bust, with participants receiving free breakfast meals daily from McDonald's delivered directly to their home.
