The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates – Madayn, represented by Madayn Industrial Academy, concludes today (Thursday) a five-day training programme on occupational health and safety inspection. The programme comes along the lines of Madayn’s efforts to develop the human cadres in its various industrial cities.
The training programme aims at introducing the participants to the advanced systems adopted in food safety and quality to improve food quality control, and highlighting the significance of laboratory analysis and its role in taking appropriate measures regarding food products that are not intended for human consumption. During the programme, the participants were familiarised with the latest methods and techniques in food and water sampling, noted Eng. Basim Al Zadjali, senior security, safety and environmental health at Madayn.
Al Zadjali added that the programme aims at introducing the participants to the main procedures of licensing process and main services provided by the inspection and occupational health and safety field, and preparation of plans and awareness campaigns. The participants were also familiarised with the importance of health, safety and environment in the adoption of international policies and standards through risk assessment, and were briefed on a variety of workplace incidents and injuries.
Additionally, the programme elaborated on occupational diseases and measures to reduce their occurrence, industrial emergency plans, personal protective equipment at the workplace, procedures of occupational health, safety and security in construction projects, wrong practices in handling and preserving food, and the quality of services provided to investors in the inspection and occupational safety field.
The five-day training programme was delivered by Dr. Ismail Al Balushi of Sultan Qaboos University; Maryam Al Ghazali of Al Joudah Food Tech Laboratory; Eng. Basim Al Zadjali, senior security, safety and environmental health at Madayn; Dr. Munthir Al Qaderi of European Business Centre; and Ahlam Al Raisi of International College of Engineering and Management. The programme concludes today with a workshop delivered by Eng. Basim Al Zadjali on Madayn’s efforts in occupational health and safety inspection, and the regulations and legislations related to public health and occupational safety.
It is worthwhile to mention that Madayn Industrial Academy was established in 2019 to offer training opportunities for the national cadres to enhance their administrative, financial and technical skills and raise their productivity, provide value adding services to the investors in the industrial cities, and provide new job opportunities for the national cadres. Madayn Industrial Academy organises a series of training programmes and events that address the trending topics and challenges locally and globally.
