3-level highway interchange project will ease Bahrain traffic

Project to be completed in 28 months

Manama (Bahrain), July 28, 2011: The Ministry of Works, Kingdom of Bahrain, has awarded project worth BD 25 million ($66.3 million) to the leading Indian infrastructure company, Afcons Infrastructure Limited.

The project includes construction of 3-level Highway Interchange, with a two-lane flyover to be built on an existing highway---the entry point to Bahrain between the King Fahad Causeway and Khaifa bin Salman Port. The flyover will have an under-pass (tunnel) for three lanes in each direction.

 The project needs to be completed in 28 months of time.

Commenting on the prestigious order bagged by Afcons Infrastructure Limited, Mr. Ramkrishnan Ramanan, Director, Transportation, said "this project is a prestigious contract and we target to complete it in 28 months of the stipulated period. Afcons will ensure that the traffic flow is unhindered throughout the construction stage. Every effort will be made to offer employment to local Bahraini, subcontracts to Bahraini agencies and procurement of construction materials from local suppliers.
