In line of the Information Technology Authority’s (ITA) efforts to spread awareness on latest digital advancement, the Information Technology Authority ITA organized last Sunday an awareness session (Tech Talk) which focused on artificial intelligence (AI), at Sas Center for Mobile Applications Development, with the participation of a number of specialists, including Dr. Bader Al Mandhari, DG of Information Security at ITA, Dr. Asma Al Saidi, Computer Sciences Researcher at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), and Dr. Hamza Zidoum, Assistant Professor in Computer Sciences at SQU.
This session discussed a range of topics related to artificial intelligence, including AI’s concept and its main applications and impacts, and how to be prepared for such technologies.
It is worth mentioning that AI is the creation of intelligent machines that work and react like human beings. This term was first coined in 1955 by John MacCarthy, a professor at Dartmouth. AI is one of the latest technologies that made a tremendous leap in the world in simulating human intelligence, and it will become more than an underlying technology.
