Amman - International Cards Company (ICC), announced the issuing of the first UnionPay card with UnionPay International (UPI) in Jordan. The announcement was made at a press conference held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Amman, in the presence of the Board of ICC and the General Manager of UnionPay International Middle East, Mr. Han Wang, in addition to representatives of UnionPay International and prominent Banking Sector Executives, as well as members of the press and media representatives.
Not only is the Card the first one issued in Jordan to carry the UnionPay logo; it is the first multi-currency payment card that can be linked to multiple accounts in different currencies which then allows cardholders to carry out transactions at points of sale and cash machines all around the world in more than one currency and without paying foreign exchange markup fees. Another unique feature is that it allows its cardholder to select his/her pin by entering it into a special terminal at card delivery.
ICC has signed a partnership agreement around a year ago with UnionPay International (UPI), the international business arm of China UnionPay granting ICC a principal membership status for card issuing and acquiring in Jordan and Palestine from UPI.
ICC is planning to issue a wide spectrum of products including Credit, Corporate, and Prepaid cards with unique and differentiating features. Each card will have its unique set of benefits and advantages to cater for every specific target segment with their respective dynamic needs.
