Dubai, 31 August 2006: A 3000 square-metre, luxurious leisure facility has been added to the InterContinental Citystars Cairo, which is located at the heart of the world's 12th largest retail and leisure complex - Citystars Heliopolis.
Lifestyles Health Club & Spa combines the height of luxury with premium expertise in health and wellbeing by offering guests some of the globe's most exclusive spa treatments, alongside the latest in fitness technology and trends.
"Nowadays, both leisure and business travellers are looking to get more than just a guest room out of their night's stay," said David Traynor, Area Director of Sales and Marketing InterContinental Hotels Group Egypt. "With the addition of Lifestyles Health Club & Spa, InterContinental Citystars Cairo is the ultimate example of how guests can enjoy an entire experience within the comfort of their chosen hotel."
A dedicated team of therapists have been trained in a vast array of treatments from several cultures including traditional Egyptian, ancient Japanese and Thai techniques, as well as Ayurvedic and Native American therapies. All 12 treatment rooms feature stately dcor, peaceful views and individual heating, lighting and music controls, allowing the atmosphere to be adapted to suit each client's mood exactly.
In addition to an extensive menu of facials and massages, guests can request several exotic body treatments which are administered on beds situated pool-side, or take advantage of four LPG machines for advanced facial and body toning. A whirl-pool and hydro-pool complete with therapeutic lighting and sound, use hydrotherapy for both healing and rejuvenating purposes.
The Lifestyle Health Club & Spa has enabled InterContinental Citystars Cairo to provide a nutritional advice and consultation service, which is available through the new sports bar and lounge.
The gym has been equipped with top-of-the-range cardiovascular, weight and strength machines and includes a dedicated boxing arena, an aerobics studio offering body training systems (BTS) yoga and dance and the first Pilates studio in Egypt. These newly available facilities complement the existing championship squash courts and two tennis courts equipped with tournament seating.
Since opening in spring 2005, InterContinental Citystars Cairo has quickly emerged as the city's most popular destination for tourist groups, corporate travellers and conference delegates. The elegant yet contemporary club and spa add the finishing touches to the property, which provides a deluxe escape amidst the frantic pace of the city centre just metres away.
The 790 bedroom hotel has predictably attracted strong interest because of its prime location at the heart of the groundbreaking 115,000 square meter Citystars Heliopolis complex. As the largest mixed-use urban development in the Middle East, the $865 million Citystars Heliopolis is larger than any project of its kind in Europe. With the InterContinental Citystars Cairo hotel set in the impressive complex, guests are provided with instant access to 470 retail outlets, an entertainment centre, cinemas, bowling alley and the only indoor roller coaster in the Middle East.
Located just seven minutes from Cairo International Airport and 10 minutes from the Cairo International Conference Centre, the hotel has invested in fine dining options including Japanese teppanyaki, Mediterranean, and Lebanese restaurants, a coffee shop, cocktail lounge and most recently '-2', a dining and entertainment venue consisting of The Lounge, The Arcade and Al Bustan, each offering an al fresco option with chilled air conditioning.
