On behalf of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Department of Civil Aviation and Chairman Emirates Group, Mr Mohammad Al Tayer, Director, Protocol & Public Relations, DCA today welcomed the first direct PIA flight from Quetta which landed at Dubai International Airport at 11:45 am. HE Mr Amanullah I. Larik, Consul General of Pakistan in Dubai and senior officials from PIA were also present for the occasion. This is the fifth destination for PIA between Dubai and Pakistan, the others being Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar.
Mr Mohammad A. Al Tayer commented: “It is a matter of great pride for us to welcome this inaugural flight. Specially since it comes at a time when the entire aviation industry is facing a huge challenge. For us at Dubai International Airport, it is a reinforcement our statement that Dubai is a safe destination, and everything here is as normal. We welcome this flight and wish PIA the very best. It is our aim to provide the highest standards of service at any cost.”
Mr Zahir Hayat, General Manager, UAE & Middle East, PIA, commented: “We have had this demand for a while now and we saw no reason why not to start this flight at this time. For us, all our flights are operating as usual and demand for more continues. We hope to add more flights. We had the demand for Quetta flights and hence have introduced it now. The conflict has not affected us and Dubai International Airport is safe and continues as normal.”
HE Mr Amanullah Larik commented: “UAE has always been our partner in trade and industry and enjoy excellent relationship. In fact, it is our second largest market. For us, we appreciate all the support given to us by the government and we will in turn provide all the support necessary. Our people enjoy coming to Dubai and demand for additional flights continue to grow. This flight has been introduced in consultation with our community people.”
The flight bound for Multan, PK196 will depart Dubai at 02:00 hours on the same day. This is the sixth destination in Pakistan which PIA connects directly with Dubai.
