IMA®️ (Institute of Management Accountants) and Khawarizmi International College (KIC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in an effort to further academic, educational, and professional initiatives for students in the UAE.

As a part of the partnership, KIC will offer the CMA®️ (Certified Management Accountant) certification to students in the region who are looking to upskill themselves in the managerial accounting and finance strategy domains. For nearly 50 years, the CMA certification has been the global benchmark for management accountants and finance professionals.

The MoU recognizes the mutual benefit in cooperation and the development of closer relationships between IMA and KIC. It will assist in enhancing the learning experiences of students, by offering access to expertise and facilities that both institutes have. The MoU was signed by Nabil El Kadhi, President, KIC, and Hanadi Khalife, Senior Director of MEA & India operations at IMA and will be in effect for a duration of two years.

As a part of the agreement, IMA has committed to providing CMA scholarships to the top ten distinguished KIC students. IMA and KIC will also work together to support and enhance various research programs for faculty members. The agreement will enable KIC to add courses in the field of Managerial Accounting after securing the necessary approvals from the related authorities by that qualifying them for CMA Certification.

“Globalization and standardization, combined with more stringent financial reporting requirements, have resulted in a dramatic change in the practice, rules, regulations, ethics, and execution of managerial accounting and financial strategy in all areas of an organization,” said Khalife. “It is imperative that partnerships such as these are realized in order to arm new generations to better prepare for their careers, particularly in a highly volatile global marketplace where the skillsets needed are changing on a daily basis. We are very excited to work with KIC, a reputed institution that is also keen on ensuring that its students are provided with ample opportunities to kickstart their professional careers when the time comes.”

“We are delighted to join hands with IMA, one of the largest and most respected associations focusing on advancing the management accounting profession,” said El Kadhi. “The MoU will provide a great platform for our students, many of whom are keen to match their skillsets to the evolving needs of the profession. CMAs are masters of critical accounting and financial management skills and bring strategic thinking, applied work experience, and the ability to convert data into dialogue. The certification will give them greater credibility, higher earning potential, and ultimately, a seat at the leadership table. This partnership sets a new benchmark of public-private partnership for the university and opens up new opportunities for the development of KIC’s faculty and students.”

IMA’s CMA certification program is an advanced-level assessment for accounting and finance professionals in business covering financial planning, performance and analytics, and strategic financial management. Achieving the CMA demonstrates professional expertise in financial planning, analysis, control, decision support, and professional ethics – skills that are in demand by organizations around the world.
