Programme to be conducted in association with Bahrain Ministry of Industry and Commerce

Bahrain, May 02, 2015: Jewellery designers have traditionally relied on drawings to show their clients what the final piece will look like when it is finished. This often takes time especially if the client requests multiple revisions. Now, International Gemological Institute (IGI) and Bahrain Ministry of Industry and Commerce are hoping to change that by introducing IGI Professional Jewellery Designer CAD programme which will help designers to develop their designs more promptly and accurately without compromising on creativity; and present the completed image to the client for their feedback.

The course which is being conducted in Bahrain for the first time has also received accreditation from Tamkeen. Established in August 2006, Tamkeen is one of the cornerstones of Bahrain's national reform initiatives and Bahrain's Economic Vision and helps develop the capabilities of Bahrainis and enterprises.

The IGI Professional Jewellery Designer CAD programme will take place on 17th of May at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce premises. It will equip participants with the basic commandments of designing and also focus on the minute details of drawing and editing curves. They will be trained to create surfaces of basic jewels and shade/render the designs. Moreover, the course will also help them to accurately and effectively calculate gold weights and estimates.

According to Roland Lorie, Co-CEO, IGI Worldwide, "Bahrain's vibrant jewellery industry needs highly skilled professionals who are also up to date with the latest technologies. Our CAD programme will enable jewellery designers to show their clients in advance what their designs will look like. They can email their rendering to the client and if the client wants different options, the design can easily be changed without having to re-draw the entire image. Our Professional Jewellery Designer course enables designers to easily beautify and modify their designs and creations."

Creativity will be at the core of the course as conversions from 2D freehand jewellery design to 3D formats come to life along with conversions of CAD drawings to prototype units.

A total of 15 students can enroll for the CAD course for a fee of BD 900. The classes will run for a duration of 14 days, except Friday from 9:00 AM- 1:00 PM.
