- New board members also elected during ICC-UAE's 6th General Assembly meeting in Dubai

Dubai, UAE: The UAE Chapter of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC-UAE) recently held its 6th general assembly meeting in Dubai where members re-elected the organisation’s chairman, vice-chairman, and secretary general.

The meeting, held at Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s premises, also saw the appointment of five new board members representing the UAE’s private sector, while the other eight existing members represent various chambers of commerce in the UAE.

H.E. Humaid Mohamed Ben Salem, Secretary General of the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce & Industry, was re-elected as ICC-UAE Chair. Mr. Khaled Mohammed Al Jassim, Director General, Fujairah Chamber of Commerce & Industry, was re-elected as ICC-UAE Vice Chair, and Mr. Hassan Al Hashemi, Vice President of International Relations, Dubai Chamber, was re-elected as ICC-UAE Secretary General.

The ICC-UAE’s board of directors operates under the umbrella of the UAE Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry in accordance with Federal Law No. 22 of 2000 and the Paris-based ICC.

H.E. Ben Salem expressed his confidence in the new board of directors in their mission to support the interests of the local business community. He explained that the ICC-UAE will continue to focus on its strategic goals in the coming months and organise events and initiatives that involve the UAE’s private sector in the formulation of global trade policies.

For his part, Mr. Al Hashemi emphasised the active role that the ICC-UAE plays in facilitating and stimulating global trade. He added that the ICC-UAE would continue its efforts to attract new members and keep UAE businesses informed about international rules, regulations and practices through workshops and seminars.

Established in 2004, the ICC-UAE represents the commercial, industrial and business enterprises in the country at a global level, and promotes the scope and reach of the UAE business community around the world.
