LEGAL consultants Hugh Fraser International (HFI) have been appointed advisors to the company which is designing a state-of-the-art roof for Dubai's world class cricket stadium.

Leading architectural design company Taiyo Membrane Corporation Middle East (TMC ME) will construct a unique roof structure based on the traditional Arabic tent framework for the 25,000 seat cricket stadium in Dubai Sports City.

The stadium will be the most advanced of its kind in the world and the International Cricket Council (ICC) have been involved in all stages of the design process to ensure the stadium meets relevant specifications for hosting international cricket fixtures.

TMC ME will use its pioneering Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) treated fibreglass membrane in the construction and a special irrigation system installed on the roof will periodically rinse decomposed dirt off the membrane, keeping the roof as good as new for its full life.

HFI legal consultants Kerry Calvert and Heather Williams worked with TMC ME, a division of Japan's Taiyo Kogyo Corporation and the largest membrane company in the world, to provide a risk assessment of construction contracts on the project and completed legal reviews of all contracts for the development.

HFI managing partner, Hugh Fraser, said working with TMC ME demonstrated the capacity of HFI lawyers for performing work across multi-national boundaries.

He said: "It is another string to our bow to be working for a Middle East based company with links back to Japan and highlights the capabilities of our multi-skilled and multi-lingual team.

"We can also offer a specialist risk assessment review service for clients involved in major construction projects and this was particularly relevant to TMC ME.

"With commercial property activity in Dubai reaching new heights and breaking records almost weekly, this service will be a major attraction to clients involved in a myriad of UAE building projects.

"We are delighted to be working closely with Taiyo Group who have a long track record of introducing their unique designs to key Middle East projects."
