DUBAI, U.A.E, September 8, 2004 - HP today announced that the HP OpenView change and configuration management solutions have been listed in the "Leader" quadrant of industry analyst group Gartner Inc.'s evaluation of the Desktop Software Distribution market.
The Gartner Magic Quadrant evaluates vendors according to their completeness of vision - which includes product line breadth and functionality, successful implementations and ability to meet customer requirements now and in the future - as well as the ability to execute, which includes service and support, market share and financial health, among other criteria. In April 2004, HP acquired change and configuration management solution vendor Novadigm and integrated its business assets, including its Radia Management Suite, into the HP Software Global Business Unit.
"Now customers can realise even greater value from the automated software change and configuration management capabilities that Novadigm pioneered over the years," said Cesare Capobianco, vice president and general manager, HP Software Global Business Unit, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). "Using the combined power of the HP OpenView management software portfolio and HP's IT service management process expertise, our customers can capitalise on the automated management solutions and best practices they need to increase agility and capitalise on change."
According to Gartner, leaders are vendors which are performing well today, have a clear vision of market direction and are actively building competencies to sustain their leadership position in the market. The report also notes that vendors that have maintained a presence have done so by incrementally adding capability to meet the ever-changing needs of information technology (IT) organisations and tying their tools to process. These solutions for software distribution are a strategic component for IT organisations in moving from a passive, reactive, task-based enterprise to a proactive, continuous, service-based infrastructure.(1)
As part of the HP OpenView software portfolio, the HP OpenView Management Suite using Radia solutions automate the management of the entire lifecycle of software and other digital assets that run on desktops, notebooks and servers. The solutions' desired-state management capability deploys changes and enforces configuration compliance automatically as prescribed by policy, enabling IT organisations to reduce administration costs, improve reliability and accelerate changes to the software that runs their businesses.
