• Population Census fieldwork teams managed to cover all inhabited areas of the Emirate; more than 80 thousand “census buildings” and more than 110 thousand units were visited.
  • In line with internationally established standards of census undertaking, the quality control team will now conduct visits to randomly selected areas and make phone calls to households to ensure that the accuracy of the fieldwork has been fulfilled – before the data analysis phase commences.

Ras Al Khaimah: The Ras Al Khaimah Statistics Center announced the completion of the second phase of the Population Census data collection, which commenced on February 1st under the directions of His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member, the ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, the follow up of His Highness Sheikh Mohammad bin Saud Al Qasimi the crown prince, and the supervision of the Higher census committee.

The Population census marks a solid step towards Ras Al Khaimah’s Vision 2030 and the strategic planning initiatives being undertaken by its various government entities.  As a next step, the Statistics Center’s quality control team will conduct visits to randomly selected areas and make phone calls to households to validate the exhaustiveness of the data collected during the past six weeks. This action is in line with the international standards and best practices to ensure coverage and accuracy of the data that is yet to be analysed by the Center.

“We are very pleased with the rollout of the population census so far and would like to extend our gratitude to the citizens and residents of Ras Al Khaimah for their support and collaboration with our  fieldworkers, who have been working tirelessly to cover every unit in the Emirate,” said Dr, Abdulrahman Al Chayeb Al Naqbi, Chairman of the High Census Committee, Chairman of the Statistics Center, “Our ongoing round of visits to randomly selected sample of areas  will be completed in the coming few weeks and thus closes the final data collection chapter of the census.”

“Such initiatives are fundamental for future planning for any city, let alone cities that carry high growth potential envisaged for the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, and will inspire the planning strategies of the various government entities, be it in the form of infrastructure and development, education, healthcare, or other essential areas,” added Dr. Al Naqbi.

ABOUT THE RAS AL KHAIMAH STATISTICS CENTER

RAK Statistics Center​ is a government organisation that was created under Emiri Law No. (2) of 2016, aiming to promote statistical work in Ras Al Khaimah and to provide statistical data and information accurately, transparently, and professionally in line with the best international standards and to strive to achieve the objectives and implement the competencies provided for in the law in creation thereof.

 The law for the creation of the centre provides that it is the sole source of official statistics on the Emirate’s level and the authorised entity to organise statistical work and surveys in this field, and that the centre shall have an independent legal personality, having its own financial and administrative independence and the necessary legal capacity to carry out the activities that ensure the achievement of the objectives for which it has been created. The centre is accountable to the Executive Council of Ras Al Khaimah, and it has a board of directors that was formed under the Resolution of the Executive Council No. (5) of 2016.

The objectives which the centre strives to achieve according to Article (6) of the law in creation thereof are summarised in the construction of an integrated and developed statistical system, which contributes to advancing economic, social and environmental development within the Emirate by  providing statistical support and the necessary data and indicators for decision makers to set out developmental policies. Furthermore, the centre aims to regulate and develop statistical work in the Emirate and to provide accurate and reliable statistics for all users, and to ensure the implementation of surveys and specialised studies according to the internationally adopted scientific methodologies and methods.
