Businesses who supply products and services to Muslims are being urged to tap into the global boom in halal tourism

Halal tourism experts say the rise in Muslim friendly travel - currently estimated at $145 billion- could be worth millions for companies and create a route to do business on an international level.

CM Media, based in UK, who have co-organised the Halal Tourism Conference 2015 (HTC 2015), which will be held in Turkey in December, say the event will provide an excellent platform for businesses in the region especially in travel, finance and food and drink sectors.

HTC 2015 will be the largest international showcase of Halal travel and will bring together over 1,000 delegates from over 50 countries to discuss and shape the agenda of one of the fastest growing sectors in the world.

Tasneem Mahmood, Director of CM Media, said the Halal tourism could provide a key growth area for the economy especially the huge outbound Turkish travel market.

She said: "The Halal tourism sector across the world is not only growing at a very fast rate, but is also now maturing with many parts of the travel sector now looking to capitalise.

"There are plenty established and upcoming businesses across a number of sectors from travel to food and drink who are leaders in their field and this is a real chance to get on the global stage.

"Regardless of faith those, those who provide products for Muslim consumers can capitalise and avail of this excellent opportunity.

"HTC2015 will be full of delegates, buyers and exhibitors from tourism bodies, hotel groups, airlines, developers and tour operators who are desperate to meet the right suppliers and satisfy the increasing demand for halal tourism.

"In addition, Turkey in itself provides huge opportunities especially due to the large outbound market it has and the large number of businesses in the country looking for partners."

According to the latest figures in the "MasterCard-CrescentRating Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI) 2015, the halal tourism sector was worth $145 billion in 2014. This figure is predicted to grow to $200 billion by 2020.

HTC2015 is the second international conference on halal tourism that has taken place in Europe. Last year's inaugural event saw over 400 delegates visit Andalucia, Spain which brought together the global travel industry to discuss ways of tapping into this niche market

This year, CM Media will partner with Tura Turizm to deliver the event which will host over 1,000 delegates and will include an exhibition, which will also be open to the public, for over 200 businesses and organisations to showcase their services.

It will attract tourism boards, tour agencies, tour operators, restaurants, media, hotels, airlines and suppliers to the travel sector. The event will feature seminars from industry experts, workshops, networking sessions and an exhibition.

A series of workshops will provide with information on developing the industry including the launch of new products, luxury travel, standardisation, finance and investment, Hajj and Umrah providers, diversifying the halal tourism offer and the growing medical tourism sector.

A number of the world's leading experts have already confirmed their attendance to the event including Simon Coombs, President & CEO - Shaza Hotels, Fazal Bahardeen, CEO, CrescentRating & HalalTrip, Dr. Jonathan A.J. Wilson, Programme Director, University of Greenwich, London and Faisal Masood, Founder and President of the American Muslim Consumer Consortium Inc.

The Halal Tourism Conference 2015 will take place from December 1 to December 3 2015 at Haliç Congress Center, Istanbul.

It will be followed by a two day tour of Istanbul to provide businesses with a live case study of a region that is becoming more Muslim friendly and is actively working to meet the needs of Muslim travellers.
