Large number of organizations, experts and businessmen to participate
The Industrial Arbitration Forum Organizing Committee has announced the names of the keynote speakers who will address the core issues relevant to commercial arbitration in the industrial sector within UAE and across the Gulf region including major legal settlement solutions and latest applications in this field.
The forum will be organized by the Sharjah International Commercial Arbitration Centre (TAHKEEM) under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohamed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah on October 25th. The event will be held in collaboration with the Exports Development Centre, an affiliate of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Sharjah Economic Development Department.
The inaugural speech will be delivered by H.E. Abdulla Sultan Alfan Alshamsi, Assistant Undersecretary for Industrial Affairs at the Ministry of Economy and shed light on the significant role played by the industrial sector in the UAE economy and the paramount importance attached by the country’s wise leadership to this sector, being a strong enabler for economic growth and diversification and a mainstay for competitive, sustainable and highly productive economy as part of the UAE Vision 2021. The speech will also highlight the importance of enhancing the competitiveness of the exports sector and accelerating R&D efforts to create a knowledge-based and innovation-driven economy.
A large number of legal experts and specialists will be participating in the forum to address a series of issues with close relevance to credit insurance and its role in propelling the industrial sector as well as the role of the banks in strengthening the industrial sector. Correlations between credit and commercial insurance will be addressed during the forum as well as their combined role in supporting the industrial sector. The event will also tackle differences between arbitration and litigation and the need for arbitration in the industrial sector as well as the role of arbitration in forging effective settlement resolutions to industrial disputes.
Commenting on the forum, H.E. Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry said, “We, along with TAHKEEM, are delighted to organize the Industrial Arbitration Forum under the patronage of H.H. Al Owais noted that the Government of Sharjah, through TAHKEEM, is keen to provide professional settlement solutions to industrial, commercial and investment conflicts in a highly efficient manner that fulfils the needs of all parties concerned in order to ensure achievement of the aspired goals.”
For his part, H.E. Sultan Abdullah bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Sharjah Economic Development Department, said, “In line with the vision of the country’s wise leadership that is premised to develop a highly competitive and knowledge-based economy, the Industrial Arbitration Forum comes to shed light on the latest applications and methodologies in areas of commercial arbitration in the industrial sector in recognition of the effective mechanism adopted by arbitration in settling disputes in an expeditious and efficient way that ensures professionalism and secrecy, as entailed by the nature of conflicts in the commercial and industrial sectors.
Al Suwaidi said, “The Emirate of Sharjah provides an ideal investment-conducive environment, specially at the industrial level, that entitles businessmen to quality services and incentives, including some of the country’s largest industry-dedicated zones, and ports that have direct access to both the Arabian Gulf and Gulf of Oman in addition to a world-standard airport that ensures seamless flow of trade.”
