Dive Middle East Exhibition Showcases State-Of-The-Art Equipment, Supplies and Services

Dubai, United Arab Emirates - Diving experts have been enthralling visitors to the inaugural Dive Middle East Exhibition (DMEX) 2007 with live demonstrations using the latest underwater cameras and communication technologies, providing on-lookers with a glimpse of life in the ocean.

Being held for the first time alongside the Dubai International Boat Show, DMEX is bringing together the leading names from the world of dive equipment, supplies and services building on the rapid rise in popularity of diving in the region.

Organisers of DIBS, Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), have teamed up with Emirates Diving Association (EDA) for the event with the EDA hosting a series of demonstrations on the latest diving specialities, training programmes and projects taking place around the region.

"The Dubai International Boat Show offers something for all leisure marine enthusiasts because there is such a wealth of water-based activities on offer in the Middle East with diving being amongst the most popular. Every year thousands of international visitors come to the Arabian Gulf to enjoy the world-class diving, and DMEX will appeal to seasoned divers as well as those who are new to the sport," said Helal Saeed Al Marri, Director General, Dubai World Trade Centre.

To highlight the increasing demand for diving activities, hotels throughout the UAE now regularly offer diving excursions for tourists and visitors enabling them to fully enjoy the beauty of the Arabian Gulf's waters.

"It is very exciting to be working with Emirates Diving Association which has done so much to encourage interest within the UAE, working with a wide-range of divers from amateur to professional. DMEX will be one of the largest international trade and dive enthusiast event in the Middle East for companies in the diving, action water sports and adventure dive travel industries," added Helal Saeed Al Marri.

DMEX 2007 will also focus on current diving trends in the UAE along with educational events aimed at children and diving clubs with special emphasis placed on promoting responsible diving and the protection of marine eco-systems.

"Every year the profile of the UAE's diving industry grows considerably and DMEX offers another unique platform to showcase to the region, with visitors coming from as far a-field as Australia and the USA," said Essa Al Ghurair, Vice-Chairman, Emirates Diving Association.

"DMEX will focus on the process of education and conservation when looking after the health of the oceans in the Middle East. Not only have the preservation of the Arabian Gulf placed an important part in our history it will also shape our future in so many ways."

DIBS takes place from 13 - 17 March 2007 at the Dubai International Marine Club, Mina Seyahi. The Dubai International Boat Show is open daily from 3pm to 9.30pm.

The show is open free of charge to trade visitors with general public tickets costing AED 35 per person. Access to the on-water marina area may be restricted at times and children under the age of 12 must be accompanied at all times.
