Dubai, 11 October 2011: Al Barari, a unique and ground-breaking eco-friendly residential community in Dubai, has announced completion of Phase 1 of its residential development, which consists of 189 palatial villas between 14.2 million square feet spread across a lush landscape of exotic gardens. The Al Barari development, one of Dubai's most coveted residences, can be considered amongst the biggest real estate success stories in Dubai, with 95 percent of its Phase 1 villas now sold and handed over.
"With the current economic climate and the many challenges that the real estate industry has faced in Dubai, the Al Barari development is a true local success story in terms of commercial achievement, the quality of life offered and environmental sustainability model," said Mohammed Zaal, CEO of Al Barari. He continued, "Approximately 90 percent of our villas are occupied by the actual owners which underlines the strategy and approach we set out to achieve from the start; building a high quality development that offers a combination of luxury living and sustainability within a unique tranquil setting."
From its conception, Al Barari (meaning 'wilderness') was intended to be a development like no other with a strong environmental conscience that would actively embrace a sustainable way of living. A project driven by the vision of the Zaal family, 80 per cent of Al Barari's land is dedicated to open, green and lush space, making it the region's lowest density development and the most environmentally aware. Hailed as "a magnificent achievement", "one of Dubai's best kept secrets" and a "thought provoking development", Al Barari has ushered in a new way of living in the Emirates. The company's unique business model has consistently attracted buyers despite the property downturn that has affected so many of the city's developments.
Located next to the royal wildlife reserve in Nad Al Sheba and accessible from the Emirates Road,
Al Barari is a secluded haven surrounded by natural botanic gardens. Designed as an environment where residents can reconnect with nature, the line between outdoor and indoor living is merged through the clever use of inspirational and innovative architecture, such as private covered courtyards integrated into the centre of villas, inviting the serenity of the garden into every home.
A project designed and built by the Zaal family-led company, their inspiration for the development was taken from cities such as Marrakech, Fas, Venice and Amsterdam where the natural coexists alongside the manmade. As a result, Al Barari residents are surrounded by 14 kilometres of naturally filtered lakes, freshwater streams, cascades and waterways and six botanical themed gardens: Balinese, Contemporary, Mediterranean, Renaissance, Water Garden and Woodland with 28 more planned for Phase II.
Al Barari's success as one of Dubai's most coveted addresses rests on its unique way of life. Unlike many other of the city's residential clusters the majority of its residents are owner-occupiers who have bought into the ethos and passion instilled in the development by the Zaal family, creating a tight-knit society amongst its inhabitants. During the sales and marketing campaign the management were extremely savvy in restricting speculator interest in the villas, ensuring that contracts could not be flipped, contributing to the residential haven it is today. As a result, there has been a strong demand for villas at Al Barari, despite the economic climate and its effects on property prices in the rest of Dubai. Recent statistics have also shown for residences at the top of the luxury market demand remains high.
Inspired by the environment, the Al Barari development will also feature a six star boutique hotel, public botanica gardens , lifestyle apartments, a spa and much more in Phase II. 2011 will see the completion of Phase I including 'The Farm' - a unique concept restaurant using locally sourced organic and natural produce that is built around natural surroundings, and 'Greenworks' - the region's largest privately owned plant nursery covering 1,937,503 square feet with 1,800 plant varieties aimed at providing 360 degree landscaping and horticultural solutions to businesses and developers as well as retail customers.

About Al Barari
Founded by Emirati visionary Mr. Zaal Mohammed Zaal in 2005, Al Barari is the flagship development of the property arm of Zaal Group of Companies. Literally meaning 'wilderness', Al Barari was designed to be a true desert oasis. 80% of the development's 14.2 million square feet is made up of green, lush space that envelopes the 189 luxury-villas. A total of 34 themed gardens with over 14 kilometres of naturally landscaped lakes, freshwater streams, cascades and waterways make Al Barari the lowest density development in the UAE and more akin to a botanical garden than a residential community.
