Recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list in 2018, with an MBE for services to Education and promoting British Business, Samantha joins Durham School for Girls Doha with a wealth of experience in the Education Sector

Doha, Qatar – Durham School for Girls Doha, Qatar’s first truly international British school for girls, delivering a British curriculum, is pleased to announce the appointment of Samantha Whay-Jenkins as Director of Marketing and Admissions.

Speaking about her new appointment, Samantha Whay-Jenkins, Director of Marketing and Admissions at Durham School for Girls Doha said: “I am thrilled with my new appointment at Durham School for Girls Doha, an ambitious project setting up the first British, all-girls school in Qatar. In her current position at Durham School for Girls Doha, Samantha will lead the promotion of the school and will also be the key point of contact for all families interested in the school accompanying them from the enquiry and initial interest stage right through to their first day at school.  Samantha will also lead on internal and external communications working with suppliers and stakeholders to promote the school at a local, national and international level.  

Samantha has just been recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list 2018 with an MBE for services to Education and promoting British Business. This represents a great recognition for her hard work in Panama where she was the lead on an extensive 7-year training plan with the Ministry of Education in Panama, designed to raise the overall competence and professionalism of English Teaching Staff throughout the country and was instrumental in the setting up of King’s College Panama, a British school for 3-18-year olds where she was responsible for all logistical and support functions and also all aspects of staff professional development.  She has been a member of the British Chamber of Commerce at Board level since 2013 and was voted in January 2016 on as the first female Chairman of the Chamber, a post she held for 2 years.

Since 1990, Samantha has been involved in training and is recognised as one of the leading professionals in Leadership, communication and customer service. She has worked as a training supplier, as an internal trainer and Training Manager and ran her own Training and Coaching Business between 2008 and 2012, offering consultancy in areas such as Communication, Management and Leadership, Team Development and Coaching to both national and international companies. 

Samantha has also worked extensively with the International Air Transport Association (IATA), running their Stepping in to Management Programme for talented employees. She was also the preferred partner for Leadership Training with Manzanillo International Terminal Logistics Port for 4 years helping develop over 60 middle and top line Managers. She is also a coach and a licensed trainer from the Coaching Academy in the UK, a Master Trainer for Train the Trainer and Customer Service with People 1st UK, and has been involved in training consultancy projects with international companies in the UK, Spain, France, Morocco, Dubai, Chile and for the Government of Panama.

Durham School for Girls Doha is the sister school of Durham School UK, which has a 600 year heritage of outstanding British education. In Doha, the school emulates the British standards whilst incorporating key Qatari values and cultures. Durham School for Girls Doha is the first All Girls British school in Doha employing only female faculty staff and teachers.

Operating in full partnership with Durham School UK, Durham School for Girls Doha will deliver outstanding education with the aim to meet Qatar’s ambition for its young women in the areas of women empowerment, especially in education, and delivering a knowledge-based society while unlocking the human potential of the young women in Qatar.

Situated in Al Messila, Durham School for Girls Doha will open its doors in September 2019. As part of its Phase 1 opening in 2019, the school will be open for the Early Years Foundation Stage Programme (EYFS) as well as for Primary Stage including Years 1 to 6. Starting from 2020, the school will be open for Secondary levels, and will be fully operational and open for all academic years by 2022.
