Progress on 167 million Square Feet Achieved Ahead of Schedule within Record Time of Eight Months
Dubai: 17 March, 2009 - Dubai Industrial City, a member of Tatweer Dubai, today announced the grading work of its 167 million square feet Phase-II development has been completed ahead of schedule, within a record time of eight months.
The grading work, which included the leveling off of land and demarcation of plots, was expedited to help investors commence construction work on respective industrial units.
Rashed Al Ansari, Vice-President of Dubai Industrial City, said: "We are proud to announce the early completion of grading work for Phase-II. In keeping with our firm commitment to create a vibrant industrial destination, we have initiated appropriate measures to ensure investors gain possession of their designated plots and begin construction work as soon as possible.
"Work on the remaining segments of our project will also proceed as planned, as we streamline our efforts towards establishing a holistic manufacturing destination with the most modern facilities. Prioritising the grading work came in response to clients' desire to have early access to their plots in the second phase of Dubai Industrial City."
Al Ansari added: "We expect to have 30 factories operating in Dubai Industrial City by end of 2009, some of them located in the second phase of the project. Our investors have production deadlines and commitment to their own suppliers and consequently we are keen to enable them to commence work on their factories. By meeting their expectation we have validated our sincere endeavour to shape an optimum enabling environment at the industrial township."
The 560 million square feet Dubai Industrial City is a comprehensive one stop- industrial and commercial destination that provides tenants with a critical competitive advantage in human resources and business operations.
The offerings at Dubai Industrial City include a 2.8 million square feet of open storage yards, three million square feet of warehouses in addition to 64 showrooms, a labour village to accommodate 10,500 tenants, training programmes by Dubai Industrial Academy, as well as four office buildings that are fully operational.
The dedicated industrial destination features six industrial clusters including food and beverage, base metal, mineral products, chemicals, transport equipment and parts, as well as machinery and mechanical equipment.
