Company appoints Iain Capon as Vice President of Design and David Brinkel as Vice President of Golf Course Development
Dubai, UAE, July 26, 2008: Dubai Golf City has appointed two world class industry professionals to deliver what will be one of the largest and most prestigious residential and golfing leisure communities in the world, located in Dubailand between the Dubai Polo Club and the Dubai Bypass Road.
Iain Capon has joined as Vice President of Design with overall responsibility to provide a low density community, with varied styles of high quality residences and hotels, situated in a natural environment of rolling hills, expansive views and extensive open space. Capon has worked in the UAE for nine years and on projects including The Old Town, Madinat Jumeirah, Fairmont on the Palm and Royal Mirage.
David Brinkel has been appointed Vice President of Golf Course Development. He is an international veteran having managed projects in Germany, Austria and Spain and working with golf course legends such as Palmer, Langer, Faldo and Nicklaus. Brinkel will be responsible for the five uniquely themed golf courses at Dubai Golf City including Oasis, Wadi, Parkland, Links and Desert courses.
Rishard Camball, CEO of Dubai Golf City, said the appointments reinforce the company's commitment to bringing the best talent to deliver a world class community in Dubailand.
"We have secured the best in the business to guarantee Dubai Golf City's position as a destination alongside Pinehurst in North Carolina, USA and Mission Hills in Shenzhen, China. Iain and David have been tasked with using the location's attributes to the best effect; these include elevated topography and naturally rolling hills. The result will be residences and hotels situated above surrounding golf courses, creating some of the most extensive views in Dubai."
Dubai Golf City is backed by Thani Investments, which over 25 years has built a large international portfolio of companies under the guidance of its Chairman, Abdulla Saeed Al Thani. Commenting on the appointments, Al Thani said: "We are pleased to welcome Iain and David on board to help us distinguish this unique development in the local and international markets. With their proven track record in their respective specialist fields, they will provide valuable international design expertise and guidance to this flagship project."
