Dubai: 31 May, 2009 - Dubai First, a Dubai Group company, today conducted two back-to-back road safety workshops for 1,600 students at Our Own English High School in Dubai.
The workshop came as part of the 'Little Steps for Safety' corporate social responsibility programme launched by Dubai First in 2008. The first full-fledged child road safety programme to be launched in the UAE by a financial services company, the initiative aims to raise awareness about child road safety, especially around school areas, through directly interacting with children.
The two hour-long workshops at Our Own English High School, Dubai, were conducted for students from grades two to five. The sessions included interactive exercises that reinforced important tips such as the right way to use a pedestrian crossing, road crossing rules (Stop, Look, Listen) and wearing a seatbelt in the car.
The workshops are led by the six Little Steps characters each representing an important element of road safety such as Sammy Seatbelt, Larry Look, Lucy Listen, Rhonda Red, Zebrina, and Handy Hold.
Little Steps for Safety was launched in 2008 in coordination with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), Dubai Police and the Emirates Driving Institute.
