Shipment & Asset protection for the logistics industry set to be further enhanced after certification

Manana, May 17th, 2005: DHL Bahrain, the country's leading express logistics provider, today announced it has received the prestigious TAPA Classification "A" Certificate - awarded to facilities that comply with the very highest standards of Security, making it the first logistics company in the region to be awarded the certificate.

TAPA, the Technology Asset Protection Association, is an association of professional high-tech companies promoting higher security standards in the international shipping and air cargo industry. In an ever-changing global market environment, security is a vital concern and a definite competitive advantage within the express logistics industry.

Global security policies practiced by the Deutsche Post World Net (DPWN) of which DHL is a subsidiary company, follows strict Global Security Policies and Procedures, which include security training for staff and ensured that up-to-date premise security measures were implemented and TAPA compliant. These measures helped to speed up the certification process for DHL Bahrain, as it did for DHL UAE who were also recently awarded the TAPA A certification, which has in turn offered high added-value to DHL Middle East's transport and logistics processes and services.

With more than 600 facilities TAPA certified worldwide, the numbers are subject to increase even more after a TAPA benchmark survey found that member companies' loss ratios dropped by 30%. The lowered ratios of losses were sustained throughout the following year.
