Dubai: Global education specialists, Crimson Education announce an inspirational Ramadan competition which encourages students across the UAE to showcase their  entrepreneurial skills with impactful projects designed to give back to the community.

The Crimson Spirit competition will launch on the 23rd April, running across the month of Ramadan. In order to win a top prize, which is designed to help aspiring university students gain the further skills they need to land a spot at their dream university, students simply need to use the Holy Month to develop an extracurricular project which positively impacts the community.

The month-long competition is open to students under the age of 18 across the Emirates. To enter, students need to upload a short 30-second description of their project (which can have been started prior to Ramadan) with the hashtag #CrimsonSpirit to Facebook or Instagram, tagging @crimsoneducation_mena, or email their project description to uae@crimsoneducation.org.

Once submitted and approved by the Crimson team, students will have one month to develop individual projects, which must involve some form of social impact.

At the end of Ramadan, students’ projects need to be resubmitted and will be judged on impact, creativity and the growth achieved during the Ramadan period. The prize winner will be selected on the 31st May, winning AED 1,000 of Crimson Credit, three free strategy and extra-curricular planning sessions, plus a sweatshirt from their dream college. Additionally, the runner-up will also receive AED 500 Crimson Credit.

Jamie Beaton, CEO and Co-Founder of Crimson Education will head up the judging panel, which will be completed by Soraya Beheshti, Managing Director of Crimson MENA, Professor Basheer Shehadeh, Academic Advisor at Crimson, Tressa Thomas, Head of ECL at Crimson and David Freed, Senior VP of Crimson and official member of the Forbes Council.

Discussing the competition, Soraya Beheshti said: “We are excited to see this competition unfold and inspire students to get creative with unique projects that have meaning this Ramadan. There has never been a more important time for education, and we are incredibly proud of the impactful projects Crimson students across the globe have created in the past months, particularly since the emergence of COVID-19.

“The traditional approach to extracurricular activities has shifted, therefore, students have had to reconsider in person projects and look at alternative ways to make a difference and boost their extracurricular profile. From Crimson Spirit, we encourage students to get creative and really think outside the box”.

The competition comes in light of Crimson Education’s efforts to support students across the region, whilst sparking a movement raising awareness about the added benefits of online education.

From mask-sharing projects and hand sanitizer home production initiative to ventilator fundraising art initiatives, Crimson students have been making headlines in recent months through their impactful extracurricular projects that support those affected by COVID-19.

Crimson’s team of online mentors are available to assist students through this time and help them stand out on their college applications to their dream university. For further information and competition details, please visit https://www.crimsoneducation.org/ae-en/  or @crimsoneducation_mena
