First ever ITIL course conducted in Dubai to help companies train IT Service Management professionals
Computer Associates Middle East, the regional leader in IT Management Software, has become the first company to offer ITIL training in the Middle East region with the first of a series of training courses completed last month which drew students from a number of the region’s largest companies.
Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) is the world’s best-recognized standard for IT service management. ITIL defines a series of best IT practices known as the IT Service Management framework (ITSM) which helps organizations improve their electronic delivery of services to meet customer needs and align their people, processes and technologies with the needs of their businesses.
“The world over, organisations are increasingly relying on electronic delivery of services to meet customer needs and the Middle East is no exception,” said Mr. M.R. Hussain, services and education logistics manager of CA-ME. “However, this requires qualified IT services staff to support the evolving business and customer requirements.”
The training was held in CA-ME’s Dubai training centre and drew participants from such prestigious organizations in the region as Mindscape, Fertil, Schlumberger and Dubai Ports Authority.
Partnering with CA-ME was ITpreneurs, a Netherlands based leading ITIL training provider that has trained more than 45,000 IT service professionals around the world. The course was conducted based on a new training technique known as “blended training” which integrates traditional instructor-led classroom training with on-line e-Learning, complete with case studies and live problems delving into concepts such as Change, Incident and Service Level Management through ITIL processes. The students used ITpreneurs’ 65 Real-Life ITIL scenarios that provide the business context of ITIL where the students actually interact with characters within a virtual company. The course culminated in the Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management examination.
“We had 90 per cent pass rate in the ITIL certification exam. Majority of the candidates scored above 75% and the students’ feedback was very encouraging,” said Hussain. “We are extremely excited about how regional organizations are fast adopting this international standard. It is a demonstration of their commitment to raising IT Service Level for their internal and external customers.”
CA-ME plans to run the ITIL course regularly. The next course is scheduled to be held in Dubai from December 8 to 10. More information can be obtained from CA’s web-site: http://ca.com/offices/me/itil/ or by e-mailing training@ca-me.com .
