The CEO Life Chemicals Group stated the following:

The SCZone Authority succeeded in developing quay Abbas which helps enhancing the  cooperation between the SCZone Authority, through developing the infrastructure & the contributions of the private sector in establishing mega projects.

This event coincides with the celebration the 30th anniversary of Life Chemicals Group (the Egyptian partner in the New Horizons Tank Terminal - NHTT) .

The project is an Egyptian- Emirates partnership between Life Chemicals Group ( LCG ) represented by by Eng. Maged Mohamed Shafik the CEO and Petrochem Middle East Fze -Dubai - UAE ( PME ) represented by Mr. Yogesh Mehta the CEO , where PME is ranked as Middle East no one distributor for liquid chemicals and ranked as no 11 globally.

The Vessel (Orchid Madeira) is the first ship to berth at Abbas quay, after renovation, and it is also the first ship to be discharged at New Horizon Tank Terminal.

The vessel was sailing from Shuaiba port at Kuwait loading 4000 MT Glycols  produced by (Equate Petrochemical company).

Shafik stated: The project contributes to providing direct and indirect job opportunities, and also contributes to assisting Egyptian industrial companies in exporting their products at a competitive logistical cost for export development. The project also allows importing raw materials not produced in the Arab Republic of Egypt, but they are essential for industry and the development of the industry as well as the sector of Petroleum, especially the raw materials required for the production of natural gas.

Regarding the bulk storage facilities NHTT, we would like to point out the following :-

The total area is 15,600 square meters, with a total storage capacity of 51,000 CBM, and it consists of 27 tanks of different capacities and 4 discharging and loading pipe lines having draft up to 16 meters for 600 meter length of Abbas Quay.

The Terminal is equipped in accordance to the latest international systems in terms of safety, civil Deffence  standards. We expect to handle more than 50-80 ships annually (exported and imported).

Eng. Maged Mohamed Shafik explained that the "Life chemicals Group (LCG) “ succeeded in providing essential chemical industries needs of high-quality products to meet the requirements  of the Egyptian market and the Domistic  industries and help in penetrating new markets for the Egyptian product through exporting to various countries.

Shafik is supporting the principals announced  by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to empower the private sector and support the industry, with no doubts  that these directions contribute to strengthening the Egyptian economy and give a competitive edge regarding the foreign trade.
