Beirut: Liban Cables (Nexans group), the industrial leader in the production of cables, has launched a new training center that aims at educating professionals on the best practices of installing solar panels. The center is in partnership with the Ministries of Industry and Energy, the IECD and the Semeurs d'Avenir and provides free educational courses for professionals in the field.

On the occasion of the launch, a press conference was held at the center in the presence of H.E. the minister of Industry, Mr. Georges Bouchikian, Mr. Vianney Basse General Director from IECD  and Mr. Pierre Khoury General Director from LCEC, in addition to distributers, partners and members of the press.

The general manager of Liban Cables, Mr. Nabil Khlat welcomed all attendees and shared with the guests the objective of this new project as well as a video highlighting the solar panel installation projects at Liban Cables.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Khlat said: “The importance of renewable energy, specifically the installation of solar panels, has significantly increased in the recent years. As Liban Cables, we believe that it is our duty to ensure top standards and therefore we created this technical center to set a benchmark, improve skills and provide peace of mind to the community.”

The Minister of Industry, H.E. Georges Bouchikian took the floor stating: “The unprecedented crisis that Lebanon is facing requires a joint effort by all Lebanese. This initiative done today by Liban Cables and IECD will be a new step in trying to solve the energy crisis in Lebanon so that darkness will disappear, and Lebanon will return one day, only by the faith and trust of the Lebanese.”

The guests were then invited to take a complete tour of the production site.

This project is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility of Liban Cables based on the E3 pillars of the Nexans group strategy including Environmental protection, Security, Education, Inclusion and Diversity, Innovation and Commitment to partners

As for the next phase on the project, there will be a training for electrical teams which is scheduled to begin during October 2022.

Additionally, there is a plan to inaugurate by the end of Q4 2022 training centers in several regions of Lebanon with the objective to provide access to all of these training courses .
