CIMA Global Business Challenge Registration Closing Feb 28, 2010
February 27, 2010, Dubai: The deadline for registration for the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants' (CIMA) Global Business Challenge (GBC) is nearing. Launched in January, registration for the Global Business Challenge is open for full time undergraduate students in a university or college in the UAE and will close on February 28th, 2010.
The global initiative is an international business management competition designed to bring out the best in potential business leaders among university and college students. The competition is open to full time undergraduates of public and private colleges and universities ideally from a business or finance background. The teams taking part will come from the UAE, UK, Ireland, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, India, China, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore, South Africa and Australia.
This is the first time the GBC will be available to UAE students. The international competition provides students with a great opportunity to test the depth of their financial knowledge, try out their business management skills, expand upon their competitive ability, and has even led to internship opportunities from well known organisations.
Conducted in 3 phases, the teams will be expected to analyse and report on a CIMA case study in stage one which ends on April 12, 2010. Up to six teams will be chosen to write an executive summary of their report based on the given scenario and present their findings to a judging panel in the GBC UAE final in Dubai to conclude the second phase. The winning UAE team will compete in the grand finals in August, representing their country and institution in Malaysia.
Ray Perry, Executive Director of Brand, Profile and Marketing at CIMA, added: "CIMA provides an internationally recognised professional qualification in management accountancy and represents some of the highest flying finance leaders in the world. The CIMA Global Business Challenge has been set up to bring out the best in the potential business leaders of tomorrow and provides a valuable platform for those taking part. We believe there is a great pool of business talent in the UAE and we look forward to seeing the students from the country apply themselves on a global scale. "
The CIMA Global Business Challenge 2009 winners, Anova, who represented Hong Kong, from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, commented: "Winning The CIMA Global Business Challenge was rewarding, it was a great opportunity to broadcast our skills on a global scale and present to a panel of expert judges. Our victory has opened doors and is the start of great things to come".
