Applications open on March 1, 2015 and close on March 31, 2015

Doha - Qatar March 1, 2015: Young tech-savvy citizens and residents of Qatar who have innovative technology-related ideas, have a fledgling ICT start-up, or who are ready to start an ICT company are urged to apply to the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology's Digital Incubation Center (DIC).

The DIC is looking for both aspiring and current entrepreneurs that are capable of harnessing emerging technologies to create innovative products, solutions, or services that will contribute to Qatar's digital economy. The Center is particularly interested in entrepreneurs who are working with technologies, such as smart city solutions and applications; cloud computing; Internet of Things; drones or robotics; Machine-to-Machines (M2M); big data and analytics; predictive analysis; cyber security; mobility and wearable solutions; e-commerce; and telecommunications services -- in all major sectors o Qatar's economy.

The Center is supporting people who have the passion and tenacity to grow a business. This year's program offers two tracks: the Launchpad, a 6-month track that helps entrepreneurs nurture their ICT ideas and turn them into business opportunities; and the 2-year Start-up track for early stage start-ups and potential start-ups that need help in accelerating the development of their business.

The Center offers expertise and professional guidance in the fields of technology and business.  Services include access to space, business planning, education and training, mentors, and legal advice, among others throughout the phases of the start-up development. The Center also offers potential funding through Qatar Development Bank (QDB), and other financial institutions.

Applicants must apply for admissions online at www.ictqatar.qa/en/dic/apply.

For an idea or start-up to be accepted, it should be original and innovative, fit with a primary area of focus, and have a good market opportunity, among other criteria. After candidates submit an online application, the DIC selection committee determines whether they move to the next step - an in person presentation to a panel of experts.  The process takes up to 6 weeks from the date of the application for the Launchpad track and up to 3 months for the Start-up track.
