New Cairo's Biggest Retail, Leisure and Entertainment Destination Sets New Shopping Standards
Cairo, Egypt, November 25th, 2013. The highly anticipated opening of Cairo Festival City Mall is only two days away and promises to revolutionise Cairo's retail landscape and enhance lifestyle experiences with the introduction of a unique shopping, leisure and entertainment destination unlike any other in Egypt.
Featuring Egypt's first ever IKEA store, the globally renowned Swedish furniture retailer, the country's biggest outlet of British fashion icon Marks & Spencer and a first-to-market retail space comprising indoors and outdoors components, Cairo Festival City Mall promises to offer mall goers an unrivalled experience.
Spanning a 168,000 square metres, the oval-shape mall and outdoor restaurant area is strategically and centrally located on the east side of the ring road in Greater Cairo, just 15-minute drive from Cairo International Airport. Its catchment area include Maadi, Heliopolis, Nasr City, Mokattam and New Cairo giving Cairo Festival City Mall's over 300 stores and 95 restaurants a potential pool of over eight million customers.
"On opening day, consumers can select between a range of retail outlets and restaurants and the plan is that Cairo Festival City Mall's full offering will come online by next April," said Mohammed ElMikawi, Managing Director, Al-Futtaim Group Real Estate Egypt, owners, developers and operators of the property.
"This week sees the culmination of years of planning and hard work and we are grateful to the Egyptian government and municipal authorities for their support in helping us deliver this aspiring project. We are confident that the Egyptian public will quickly embrace Cairo Festival City Mall as a destination of choice.
"As our retail offering will continue to grow, customers will benefit from an expanding stable of brands, products and services which have opted to open up shop at the hospitable and welcoming environment of Cairo Festival City Mall," added Mohammed ElMikawi.
Other key attractions of Cairo Festival City Mall include the region's largest Kidzania, Egypt's first edutainment destination as well as Magic Planet for the young visitors, a 10,755 square metres Carrefour hypermarket, and a musical dancing fountain as the centrepiece of an Amphitheatre offering a myriad of performances and entertainment for the guests.
Amenities include comfortable parking areas for more than 6,500 cars, numerous elevators and escalators to facilitate vertical traffic across the mall's three levels and dedicated praying areas for male and female worshippers.
The mall sits at the heart of the sprawling 3 million square metres Cairo Festival City, an upcoming upmarket residential and commercial mixed-use community in New Cairo offering a combination of modern infrastructure with more safety, security and leisure.
The project encompasses a variety of residential units including uniquely designed villas, as well as business buildings with a range of unit sizes particularly designed for companies and organizations with the latest specifications for administrative facilities. Furthermore, there is an area specifically built for renowned international hotels.
The American International School (AIS) has also built a new campus at Cairo Festival City, where Toyota and Honda showrooms and maintenance centres have for long established their presence.
"Cairo Festival City has allocated large residential areas, whereas villas and apartments are uniquely located within a safe gated community and landscapes covering 80% of the total area," added Mohammed ElMikawi.
