Dubai, United Arab Emirates. With a number of top awards already under its belt, the Cadillac SRX looks set to continue the trend in 2005, with an all-new V6 engine being shown for the first time last week at the Beirut Motor Show.
Based on GM's acclaimed Sigma architecture, the all wheel drive (AWD) 2005 Cadillac SRX continues to deliver superior driving dynamics and for 2005 the SRX features an optional V6 engine, new instrument cluster with chrome accents, as well as darker privacy glass.
The 3.6L V-6, which delivers 255 horsepower at 6500 rpm with 254 lb.-ft. of torque at 3200 rpm joins the 4.6L Northstar V-8 which generates 320 horsepower at 6400 rpm and 315 lb.-ft. of torque at 4400 rpm
Both engines are mated to five-speed automatic transmissions featuring Driver Shift Control (with clutchless manual shifting), electronically controlled engine braking and downgrade detection with brake assist.
Chassis management and vehicle control systems help the vehicle respond accordingly to virtually all types of driving conditions. Features include Cadillac's celebrated four-channel StabiliTrak stability control system and Magnetic Ride Control as an optional feature that is unavailable in any other make in this segment.
The SRX features the longest wheelbase in its class and helps provide superior ride quality and dynamic stability. A weight distribution of nearly 50-50, a low center of gravity, outstanding powertrain combinations and the latest vehicle stability technologies make the SRX the rare utility vehicle that is actually fun to drive.
Moreover, the SRX is unlike anything else on the road, yet at first glance, it is instantly recognizable as a Cadillac. Its Cadillac bloodline shows through in its chiseled vertical taillamps and headlamps and V-shaped grille. At the same time, it clearly stands out from European and Japanese competitors.
SRX, which seats up to seven passengers with the optional third-row seat engaged, has the largest optional sunroof system available in the segment. The "UltraView" sunroof provides the thrill of an open-air driving experience. It extends to provide 0.52 square meters of open air over the first-row seats and integrates a retractable power shade.
Interior materials and appointments reflect the richness and class of Cadillac. The blend of wood and leather represents an evolution of refinement for the interior, and includes leather seating surfaces and armrests, and wood trim on the steering wheel and shifter knob.
Navigation
GCC customers will benefit from the all-new navigation system featured in the 2005 Cadillac SRX. The SRX's Navigation System allows drivers to plan their route before setting out on a trip, and receive turn-by-turn route map and guidance with voice prompts throughout their journey. The system's advanced database allows the driver to select their destination from various areas and choices, from street addresses and intersections to destinations stored in the memory and even points of interest around town.
Peace of Mind
All 2005 and onwards Cadillac models come with a free service and maintenance package for 4 years or 100,000km (whichever comes first), in addition to around the clock roadside assistance and General Motor's patented bumper-to-bumper warranty. This unsurpassed care package offers 2005 Cadillac customers an unparalleled sense of security and total peace of mind, enhancing the overall Cadillac experience.
