CHELMSFORD, Mass. - Brix Networks, a global provider of open and extensible converged service assurance solutions, today announced a collaboration with Ditech Networks (NASDAQ: DITC), a leading provider of voice quality solutions to the world's communications industry, whereby Brix will integrate Ditech's Experience Intelligence (EXi) technology into the company's BrixCallT advanced call signaling analysis and media correlation application to allow Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) providers to view how voice quality impairments -- such as echo, mismatched speech levels, and background noise -- impact subscribers' quality of experience (QoE).

In a related matter, Ditech separately announced today that Brix is the latest organization to become part of Ditech's EXi Everywhere Partner Program, which makes the firm's voice quality measurement technology available to the communications industry.

Since its introduction, leading carriers around the world have used EXi to measure real-time voice quality. EXi quantifies the impact of voice quality impairments caused by the places where people make calls, codec impairments, packet loss, and by a wide variety of mobile devices, such as phones and headsets. Before EXi, the communications industry was unable to identify meaningful trends or many of the root causes of substandard voice quality, such as ambient noise or echo, on live calls.

According to Philip Powell, director, product management at Brix Networks, "Ditech's EXi is a highly complementary technology that will add important new capabilities to BrixCall, including measurement of signal-to-noise ratio and other vital details about the impact that substandard voice quality and various aural effects have on the actual live subscriber call experience. As a result, carriers can take corrective action that allows them to pinpoint and quickly solve their customers' problems."

In addition to deploying EXi on its own Voice Quality Assurance (VQA) product, Ditech is making multi-platform support available in conjunction with its EXi Everywhere Partner Program, including mobile handset and headset manufacturers, communications providers, network equipment vendors, test and measurement companies, standards organizations, consulting firms, and other solutions providers.
