Amman - British Airways has appointed Mike Rock as the new sales manager for Central Asia and the Levant, consolidating the airline's commitment to the region following its return to Jordan.
As part of his new role, Mike Rock will be managing the British Airways sales teams across Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Lebanon and Jordan, overseeing sales and supporting the airline's growth in the region.
As sales manager for the region, Mike will be responsible for developing tailored solutions for corporate travellers, special sales offers for the region, while at the same time building the airline's relationship with local travel agent partners.
Rock joined British Airways in 2007 through the airline's graduate development scheme after having successfully completed his university studies in French and history at Nottingham University. From August 2012 until he took up his current responsibilities, Rock was based in Korea, starting British Airways' commercial operations in the country in the lead-up to the airline starting flights to Seoul in late 2012.
Paolo de Renzis, area commercial manager for the Middle East and Central Asia, said: "Mike's experience serving as commercial implementation manager for Europe and Africa, as well as Korea, means that he brings extensive knowledge of British Airways' commercial operations from across our network.
"Our Amman flights are doing very well and with the region presenting a large growth opportunity for British Airways, there couldn't be a better time for Mike to join the team."
Commenting on his recent appointment, Rock said: "As part of my previous role as commercial implementation manager for Europe and Africa I was heavily involved in the integration of bmi into British Airways. A large part of that process was about listening to customers and taking their feedback on board to make the integration as smooth as possible. After having worked closely with the teams in the Central Asia and Levant region on the integration, I am delighted to be coming on board as sales manager and look forward to growing British Airways' offering in the region and in Jordan in particular."
In his new position, Mike will divide his time between the British Airways global headquarters in London Heathrow, and the four countries under his management.
