BBK, Bahrain's pioneer in retail and commercial banking, and the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) have announced their strategic partnership to launch The Emtech Summit & Expo for emerging technologies later this year.
To be held on October 3rd and 4th at the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay, the two-day EmTech Summit & Expo will focus on the importance of Emerging Technologies (EmTech) and how it reshapes Bahrain’s economy under the theme “Technology that Changes the Paradigm”.
Under the patronage of The Central Bank of Bahrain, the Summit will feature both international and local experts coming together to deliver insightful sessions and stimulating panel discussions focused on new topics relevant to emerging technologies and the economic conditions that will govern the Bahraini market.
An international expo will also be held, showcasing the latest IT trends and giving the participants a more comprehensive overview of economic prospects and potential threats to financial and economic stability, in addition to prospects of support for entrepreneurs in the Kingdom.
BBK Chief Executive, Mr. Reyadh Yousif Sater said, “With the fast changing trends in technology and communication in the financial sector, we believe in the importance of keeping up with the developments within the industry and the subsequent changes in market requirements. Today, EmTech represents an opportunity for banks to further develop their digital financial services, coupled with the Kingdom’s ability to serve as a Centre for innovation in this sector”.
The BIBF Director, Dr. Ahmed Abdul Hameed Al Shaikh said, “EmTech is an opportunity to discover future trends and to understand the technologies that will drive the new global economy. With the rapid changes in Technology and Services worldwide, Bahrain is well positioned to be the pioneer for EmTech in the region, providing excellence in service for User Experience, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, FinTech, amongst other services. EmTech is where Technology, Business and Culture converge to provide innovative solutions.”
The partnership agreement was signed by BBK Human Resources and Administration Group General Manager, Mr. Hassaan Burshaid and the BIBF Director, Dr. Ahmed Abdul Hameed Al Shaikh.
During the signing ceremony, Mr. Burshaid was pleased to see BBK embarking in this initiative. “As a leading Bank in Bahrain, we take it as our responsibility to participate actively in creating awareness of today’s fast moving technologies that will change the way we bank, the way we do business and the way we manage our time. Through this summit, we aspire to bring together all the stakeholders who will make that change happen.”
