Manama, Bahrain: Batelco announced today a further extension of its Fiber Speed Upgrade initiative till the end of August 2021, with Internet speeds being boosted for all Batelco Fiber customers, at no additional cost.

The Speed Upgrade initiative increases the Internet speed by up to 5 times the customer’s current Internet speed, delivering better quality browsing, streaming, faster downloads, and improved video calls, which supports virtual learning and working from home for Batelco customers during this time of COVID-19.

Commenting on the extension of the Speed Upgrade initiative, Mikkel Vinter Batelco CEO said, “We have seen the positive impact the Batelco Speed Upgrade initiative had on our customers, during a time of high dependency on technology and the Internet. Therefore, we decided to continue with this initiative until the end of August, so our customers can benefit from the upgrade especially during the rest of the academic year and the summer period.”

“We believe in being a socially responsible company and are committed to playing our part as a proud member of Team Bahrain in the fight against the spread of COVID-19. During 2020, we implemented a number of initiatives designed to help everyone to staying safe in their homes. Our decision to continue with the Speed Upgrade initiative is in line with our ‘Stay at Home’ campaign that we have recently launched.”

“I would also like to extend an appreciation to BNET, Bahrain’s National Broadband Network, for their support in enabling this service, as “BNET’ is the provider of national broadband services,” he concluded.

One of Batelco’s customers Mai Al Khatib-Camille said, “I was delighted to receive the original SMS from Batelco informing me that my Fiber speed was going to be boosted and I am now even more thrilled when the benefit has been extended further. The upgraded Internet speed is great, my husband Sam and I have needed to work from home on many occasions since early in 2020 and Batelco enabled us to continue to meet our work commitments and also enjoy lots of leisure time gaming and watching TV together.”

Existing Batelco customers will benefit automatically from the speed and does not have to do anything to activate the upgrade. New customers are automatically gaining from the additional speed, with the 10Mbps package boosted to 20Mbps, 20Mbps to 40Mbps, 30Mbps to 100Mbps and 100Mbps to 500Mbps customers.
