Product improves energy efficiency in buildings, reduces carbon footprint during lifecycle
Dubai - UAE - BASF, the world's leading chemical company, is introducing a new generation of its spray-applied polyurethane foam roofing system Elastospray®, across the Gulf region.
Specifically created for the insulation and waterproofing of roofing systems, Elastospray® can be applied to both new and retrofit roofs. Designed with zero Ozone Depleting Potential (ODP) and low (<5) global warming potential (GWP) as well as new Hydro-fluoro-olefins (HFO) insulating agents, the new Elastospray® has extremely low thermal conductivity and meets the most stringent environmental requirements.
Paul Clavel, Sales Director, BASF said: "At a time when climate protection is at the top of every public and private enterprise agenda, investments must be made in new systems and solutions that can prevent further rise in greenhouse gas emissions while maintaining highest levels of thermal insulation and waterproofing performance. To answer this need, BASF has been enhancing its roofing systems with the use of new-generation, environment-friendly components. Using Elastospray®, customers are guaranteed that their roofing system will be insulated for over 20 years, contributing to structural strength in the face of various climatic conditions."
Elastospray® is produced directly on the substrate to be insulated, using a spray process. The spray foam creates an even layer of insulation, eliminating any thermal bridges. Made to reduce emission levels of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), Elastospray® has an extremely low thermal conductivity, making it unique when compared to conventional insulating material. Water and UV resistant, the new generation roofing system is easy to install and extends the lifecycle of roofing systems.
Elastospray® has been developed by BASF's Performance Materials division, which offers a wide portfolio of innovative and customized plastics, foams and polyurethanes. Polyurethanes have versatile properties which makes life safer, more comfortable and convenient wherever used. The material finds application across several items - from armrests, steering wheels, mattresses and headrests to refrigerators, cable sheathing, shoe soles and roller skates.
The new generation Elastospray® is now available in the region through BASF Kanoo Polyurethanes LLC. To learn more about this product, please visit spf.basf.com/elastospray.php
