Benghazi, 14. May 2012.

Based on the principle of „Austrian-Libyan friendship", an extensive social and medical relief convoy started on Thursday, 3rd of May 2012. A team of 30 people - mainly medical staff will support hospitals in Benghazi and Gharyan. At the same time a container of 15 tons of relief items, that will be distributed to health centers and to families in need, is sent to Libya. The humanitarian convoy is organized in cooperation with the Libyan humanitarian organization Wafa (We-are-for-all). This initiative of the SAAR is mainly supported from the Asamer Group.

Third relief convoy of Asamer
This year it is the third relief convoy for Libya that is organised by Asamer. In May 2011, after the outbreak of the glorious people revolution, medicine (above all desperately needed antibiotics) and bandages as well as 22 tons of food were sent to Benghazi. In August, another humanitarian aid convoy followed.

During the time of the revolution, Asamer was always in contact with the Libyan employees. Thus, the company received a complete list of vital medicines, medical supplies and food that was urgently needed in Eastern Libya. Asamer-Chief Security Officer, Clemens Reiter, who organized the first and second aid convoy, states that "our main concern is getting aid to the civilian population. And as a foreign company we want to show that we continue to care for the population and our employees, as much as present circumstances will allow".
