APC's New Double Conversion UPS Models Offer Power Dense, Scalable Runtime for Rack or Tower Configurations
Dubai (UAE) - April 8th 2008 - APC, a global leader in integrated critical power and cooling services, today introduced its Smart-UPSÒ RT 15kVA and 20kVA power protection models in a space-saving 12U size for rack or tower installations. This versatile double conversion online UPS offers users a flexible electrical configuration of 1:1, 3:1 or 3:3 input/output wiring that avoids rewiring of the server room or network closet. APC expects the new models will appeal to IT and facilities professionals who manage server rooms, server closets and small to medium data centers utilizing high density and critical applications. For example, when implemented together, APC's new Smart-UPS RT products can help IT and networking managers protect increasingly popular Power over Ethernet (PoE) equipment investments against power overloads, outages, surges and spikes. Also, APC anticipates that its Smart-UPS RT models will play an important role as a major power protection source to the new, higher end servers gaining acceptance in the market as a result of the server virtualization trend.
The new models, offering improved adaptability, availability, manageability and serviceability, are tested and certified for use within APC's InfraStruXure® architecture. APC's new Smart-UPS models can support applications such as single high density racks using blade servers, as well as medical imaging and diagnostics, VoIP/IP telephony, industrial or factory floor machinery, RFID and storage equipment. The Smart-UPS RT 15kVA and 20kVA also are application optimized and compatible with a variety of operating systems and network management platforms.
"With the introduction of the Smart-UPS 15kVA and 20kVA models utilizing the most advanced technology in the industry, APC continues to address its customers' needs for innovative power supplies offering excellent power quality and performance in an extremely dense form factor," said Dave Johnson, APC's senior vice president of Home & Business Networks. "We expect customers will appreciate the improved availability aspects of these new models since they include hot-swappable battery and system fans, dual mains input, and an intelligent 3kW charger that automatically detects additional battery packs and adjusts charging voltage for faster recharge time."
Notable highlights include:
Adaptability:
High density design in a 12U size that saves valuable space.
Configurable as single- or three-phase system offering flexible electrical configurations.
Convertible form factor allows for rack or tower installations.
Availability:
Hot-swappable battery and system fans ensure uptime.
Dual mains input increases availability by allowing the UPS to connect to two separate power sources.
Intelligent 3kW charger that automatically detects the addition of Smart-UPS battery packs and adjusts charging voltage for faster recharge time.
Manageability:
Bundled management solutions allow UPS configuration and diagnoses remotely or on-site.
LCD display communicates UPS status for fast diagnosis and control.
Serviceability:
Field replaceable receptacle panels allow direct connection enabling fast installation of new IT equipment.
