Dubai: Middle East Film & Comic Con (MEFCC) 2019, the definitive pop culture event in the Middle East, today draws to a close as organisers announced another hugely successful weekend that saw increases on previous editions in attendance and growth in exhibiting companies from across the region and the world.

The three-day convention attracted thousands of film, comic, TV, pop culture and gaming fans, who flocked to Dubai World Trade Centre for an extraordinary weekend packed with fascinating activities.

The halls were packed as brands, fans, content creators and celebrities celebrated this must-attend event on the Dubai’s calendar.

Workshops and panels brought together some of the finest talents from creative industries to share their knowledge. MEFCC 2019 gave Middle Eastern fans the chance to celebrate a shared love of pop culture, meet international celebrities and artists, learn from industry professionals, express their own talent and enjoy a feast of activities from gaming to music, art, technology and much more.

The Event Manager for Middle East Film & Comic Con, Michael Lamprecht, said: “This year has been unbelievable. The joy and entertainment that this show brings is what makes MEFCC a key diary date in Dubai’s year-round calendar of events. We look forward to seeing MEFCC’s popularity continue to grow in the coming years, as we welcome super fans from the worlds of comics, TV, film, games and anime.”

“Our promise is always bigger and better, and we are able to deliver on this due to the overwhelming support of industry partners and the fan community, whether they are artists, exhibiting companies, sponsors or fans,” he added. “It’s that enthusiasm which is driving the growth and success of the event. MEFCC is always committed to creating more opportunities for industry professionals, fans and friends to get together to share ideas and exchange experiences.”

During its eighth edition, fans were treated to an amazing line-up of international celebrity guests including: Ross Marquand, Katie Cassidy, Tara Strong, Zachary Levi, Iwan Rheon and Benedict Wong; plus international artists like William Simpson, David Finch, David Angelo Roman, Mitsuhiro Arita, Otto Schmidt, Jeffrey Cruz, Long Vo, Sana Takeda, Simon Bisley and Des Taylor.

Local and international cosplay fans competed against each other and showed off their extraordinary costumes and knowledge of science fiction or superheroes in the now legendary MEFCC Cosplay Competition, with the winners across multiple categories winning cash prizes.
