Retailer opens temporary branch at Sealine

Doha, Qatar 20  November 2011:  In a show of support for the Winter Camp held annually at the Sealine Resort south of Doha, Al Meera opened a supermarket on site that will operate for the five month-duration of the camping season.  This is the second consecutive year which Al Meera has set up a branch solely for the camp.

"We are proud to be open our Winter Camp for the second year," said Dr. Mohammed Nasser Al Qahtani, Deputy CEO of Al Meera.  "Al Meera will provide camping and consumer requirements for the public with no premiums added which means that the prices at Sealine branch is equivalent to other Al Meera branches."

In addition to the supermarket, the retailer will also provide a space for food franchises and a play area for families and children to safely enjoy this season.

"We wanted to give incentive for all citizens  - of all ages - to take advantage of the government-supported initiative," added Dr. Al Qahtani. "Our involvement again this year is a sign of our commitment to our community, and our hope is that residents will take advantage of the wonderful offerings of the Qatari outdoors."

Another reason for Al Meera's supporting the camp again is an interesting fact that was revealed at the end of last year.  Traffic accidents related to the event drastically decreased through Al Meera's participation.

"Prior to our involvement, campers would have to drive all the way to messaied, Wakra or Doha for everyday food and hygiene items," explained Dr. Al Qahtani. "Now that campers have a supermarket on-site, there is no need to make the hour-and-a-half round-trip to shop for their goods.  We are delighted not only be supporting the Winter Camp again, but that we have played a role in making the event safer and more secure for everyone."
