During the inauguration of Al-Sameeh's School 5th Heritage Exhibition

Abu Dhabi, April 14, 2011: Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al-Khaili, Director General of Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), inaugurated Al-Sameeh School's 5th Heritage Exhibition. Present at the event were Mr. Hassan Ali Mohammad, the principal, a number of senior educators and students' parents.

Dr. Al-Khaili emphasized the importance of preserving the national identity & local culture by enhancing the Arab values & traditions; teaching our children the forefathers' biography as well as showing them the hardships they faced to enable UAE become among the world's prominent countries. "Doing so, will definitely help our children gain more life experience and wisdom that will allow them plan for their future effectively", he added.

"As schools are major resource of knowledge, culture and useful activities, ADEC is keen to create a link between them and the community. This will certainly enhance national identity, local culture, values and traditions which are considered key targets of ADEC 10-year strategic plan", Al-Khaili said.

Dr. Al-Khaili urged educators as well as parents to work closely in order to promote these values among children to become independent and responsible citizens.

Dr. Al-Khaili toured the exhibition held in heritage tent which showcased ancient fishing tools, pots, etc used by the forefathers. Furthermore, it included traditional cuisine, different species of fish, musical instruments and a photo gallery.

The school principal welcomed the crowd and stressed the eagerness of his school to organize the exhibition annually in order to connect students with their ancestors' traditions.

A number of participant schools performed folk dances, songs and poems.

Concluding the event, Dr. Al-Khaili honored the outstanding and talented students.
