New Notebooks Combine the Latest Technology with Innovative Folio Design Features
Dubai, United Arab Emirates
In order to further consolidate its lead in Saudi Arabia and stimulate rapid growth in the United Arab Emirates in notebook PC sales, Acer Computer (M.E.) Ltd has launched a new family of notebooks featuring a stylish Folio design, targeted at the home, SMB and the corporate market.
Having maintained its sales lead in Saudi Arabia for the third consecutive quarter, with 22.7 per cent market share, Acer announced that the company is well poised to overcome the 0.2 per cent gap between it and the UAE's number one notebook vendor, with the introduction of the new Folio range.
Designed to look like a Folio, notebooks within the new range are light, slim and easy-to-carry, featuring an inventive non-slip carry-grip, latchless magnetic closing and Acer's unique Empowering Key (eKey) for quick access to management functions.
The SignalUp wireless enhancement, featuring a built-in antenna on top of the LCD panel, creates an omni-directional signal that extends the range, allowing the user to enjoy greater notebook mobility.
"Breaking the barrier between people and technology has always been Acer's long-term mission, enabling customers to experience and benefit from the freshest technologies," said Philip Ashkar, director of sales and marketing, Acer Computer (M.E.) Ltd. "With the revolutionary Folio concept, our position in the regional market will be stronger than ever and over the next few months we expect to increase our market share significantly across the region."
"With pure functional simplicity, smooth curves and subtle elegance, our Folio notebooks blend in effortlessly with home and business environments, while the eKey enables users to operate their notebooks in the smartest and most productive way," he added.
The Folio notebook concept is the result of in-depth international market research and customer surveys. David Drummond, business unit manager, notebooks and mobile products, Acer MEA said: "The new notebooks are the outcome of two years of collaboration with a world-class consultancy, Smart Design. The consultancy is one of top five design companies in the United States, and we chose them primarily because of their extensive knowledge of branding and design implementation."
"The discreet and agile form of the new notebooks reflects a sense of self-assurance and innate ability, and is certain to be very popular with the growing number of professionals in the region. Combined with the elegance of the metallic colors, you have a product that fits well in any home or business environment," he added.
In full consideration of customers' needs, the new notebooks will feature front cluster access ports and controls, maximizing user friendliness. Smooth planes with soft curves create a stylish and expressive feel, while integrated I/O ports and a wrap configuration encompassing the LCD screen and body create a clean and streamlined effect.
Textured surfaces enhance the elegant feel, and the non-slip carry grip improves frequent handling for people on the move.
Acer's unique eKey further exemplifies the company's commitment to fulfilling customer needs. At the press of the key, Acer's eManager, a friendly user interface is launched, combining frequently used settings such as ePower Management, eSetting and ePresentation. eManager offers users the choice of recommended or customized PC configurations to maximize their battery life, improve security and productivity.
"Whether you are a business professional or home user, image matters and the Folio will enable users from all market segments to experience what Acer calls 'True Style in Motion'," said Graham Braum, business development manager, notebooks, Acer Computer (M.E.) Ltd.
The first three of six Folio designed notebooks available in the Middle East will be the TravelMate 2100 and 2600 and the Acer Aspire 1680 widescreen series.
