Jointly offered with Tulane University's Freeman School of Business
Abu Dhabi, UAE: Abu Dhabi University's College of Business recently received approval from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to launch its dual degree program of Executive Masters of Business Administration. The program which runs over a period of 18 -20 months, is offered jointly by ADU's College of Business and Tulane University's Freeman School of Business and will start with its inaugural class in March 2012. On completing the program, students will earn an EMBA from Abu Dhabi University, and a Masters in Global Management from Tulane University, a founding member of AACSB accreditation body.
Chancellor of Abu Dhabi University, Dr. Nabil Ibrahim explained that the new EMBA program is aimed at serving the educational needs of experienced business executives in the region, and is structured in a way that enables busy executives to pursue dual degrees with minimal disruptions to their work commitments. "The EMBA program is designed to provide them with a wide range of new skills that would enhance their analytical abilities and knowledge of domestic and international business environments, consequently making them an asset to any organization", said Dr. Nabil.
He asserted that graduates of the new EMBA program will gain managerial skills in strategy formulation and implementation that ensure the future success of their organizations, as well as be able to prepare marketing strategies, plans, analysis, and identify critical factors to ensure effective marketing functions. "Other learning outcomes of the EMBA include: developing skills in the effective methods of leadership, team building, managing people and organizations, responding to international business situations using appropriate communication and interpersonal negotiation skills, developing an awareness and sensitivity to the global and multicultural business environment and international entrepreneurship. Additionally, graduates will be able to apply various financial data and models to effectively manage the aspects that affect an organization's financial performance domestically and internationally, understand procedures, processes, and strategies applied within global supply chains and critique tools and models, for an efficient use in the decision making process", added Dr. Nabil.
Commenting on the significance of ADU's partnership with Tulane University, Dr.Jacob Chacko Dean of the College of Business said: "Here at the College of Business we are very excited about the partnership with Tulane - a school known for its excellence in business education and one of the most prestigious American business schools in the world. Our partnership with Tulane University, adds an international perspective to ADU's strong fundamental business curriculum that is essential in today's integrated global environment. The jointly offered EMBA program will help ADU's College of Business become a prominent international hub for executive education. This is well-aligned with our missions to be internationally recognized for the excellence of our academic activities".
Dr. Chacko added: "The EMBA cohort-based curriculum was developed jointly by ADU and Tulane University. It comprises of a total of 14 courses or 42 credit hours, where each course is offered and assessed within a month. Each course requires only 5 consecutive days of intensive classroom sessions. Six of those courses will be taught by Tulane's faculty and the rest will be taught mostly by ADU's Faculty Fellows who are world-renowned educators from top business schools in the US and Europe".
Dr. Vlad Krotov ADU's DBA/EMBA Coordinator said: "The program is designed to be in a cohort format that facilitates team building, peer tutoring, and simulates the global work environment where professionals have to work closely with colleagues from diverse backgrounds". According to Dr. Krotov, the EMBA program's admission requirements are meant to facilitate this mode of learning.
"The EMBA admission requirements are as follows: a bachelor degree (or equivalent) from an accredited university recognized by the UAE's Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research; GPA of at least 2.50, minimum English proficiency demonstrated via TOEFL or IELTS scores. In addition to that, applicants are required to have five years of full time work experience in intermediate or upper management roles and pass a personal interview with the EMBA Admissions Committee", concluded Dr. Krotov.
