BEIRUT: The Lebanese pound fell slightly Tuesday, trading at 19,250 against the dollar on the black market, exchange dealers said.

Dealers are buying the dollar for LL19,200 and selling it at LL19,300. The slight fall is due to ongoing political uncertainty in the country.

Prime Minister-designate Najib Mikati and President Michel Aoun did not meet Monday, suggesting that key differences remain between the pair as the former struggles to form a cabinet. Lebanon has been managed by a caretaker government since August 2020.

The pound has lost more than 90 percent of its value since 2019, causing an economic crisis that has seen more than half the population pushed into poverty.
