Egypt will aim for a planted area of 3.6 million-3.7 million feddans of local wheat this season, an agriculture ministry official told Reuters on Monday, after planting 3.4 million feddans last year.

Overall production of wheat is expected to increase by 1 million tonnes, said Abbas al-Shennawi, head of the ministry’s services and follow-up sector.
